Dr Vincent Cheng, Director of Building Sustainability, Arup
Dr Vincent Cheng is a Building Sustainability specialist and an industry-known expert in sustainable master planning and building design, specialising in energy code formulation, BEAM Plus, LEED, WELL green building assessment, life-cycle analysis and Air Ventilation Assessment (AVA). He is also a driver of innovation development and is recently working on smart building development. He has extensive experience on project management for energy & audit planning projects and government consultancy studies, including the formulation of building regulation on Lighting and Ventilation, the CEPAS (BDÕs code on green building assessment), life cycle assessment tools for EMSD, AVA assessment methodology for PlanD environmental study for HKHA and low carbon development consultancy for Taiwan EPA.
Currently, he has participated in a number of pivotal sustainable projects including the DCS systems for WKCD and KTD; sustainable building design and BEAM Plus, LEED, WELL and CGBL projects; and notable zero energy building designs such as Samsung GREEN TOMORROW in Korea and CIC ZCB in Hong Kong. He has participated in an award-winning smart building project 18 King Wah Road, which 7D BIM application was introduced.
He is a Director of HKGBC and a Committee Member of Expanded Building Committee of Buildings Department to advice the government and the professionals on sustainable building issues. In Arup, Vincent is the Global Leader for Environmental and Building Physics Skills Network and a Regional leader for Building Performance and System Skills Network. He has recently written a book ÒBuilding Sustainability in East AsiaÓ.
