Chairman of Research & Blueprint Committee, Smart City Consortium , General Manager, Remotec Technology Ltd.

Daniel is currently serving as a council member and as the Chairman for the Smart City Consortium (SCC) Research & Blueprint Committee. In 2016, he led SCC in a public consultation exercise to solicit input for implementing Smart City in Hong Kong; he later published an interim report for the OCGIO, Energizing East Kowloon Office and the Planning Department for the development of the Smart City blueprint in Hong Kong as well as to promote the adoption of sustainable and green technologies.

Daniel also serves as an Executive Committee member at the Hong Kong Electronics & Technologies Association. Professionally, Daniel currently lead as the GM and EVP of Market Innovations at Remotec Technology Limited which focuses in smart controls, home automation and the emerging opportunities in the Internet of Things (IoT) market. Daniel invented a SmartAirCon product concept, which won the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (END) Smart City IoT Development competition in 2016 and advocates the sustainable use of air conditioning to reduce carbon footprint, reduce the consumption of electricity and to promote smart living. 

Daniel started off his career as a head programmer at Hutchsion Mobile Data in 1990 (world’s first public mobile data network) – Hong Kong’s first mobile apps coder and had launched various content product including CompuServe. Since Hutchison, Daniel had been a business development professional in telecoms in Asia (Taiwan Mobile, Iridium, Wharf T&T). During the dotcom era, he became a resident-entrepreneur at a venture capital fund – iWorldGroup based in Malta. He later migrated to Canada after 9/11 where he started up his own brick and mortar toy store. He sold his toy business in 2007 and joined a Canadian toy company and became involved in invention, licensing, design and product innovations. In his spare time, Daniel is an inventor, he currently holds numerous patents and offers consultancy in tech projects. He is also an adjunct lecturer at City University and HKUSPACE in Innovations, PR and Marketing Communication.
