FIVE Secrets of Torquill Pagdin:
Q1) How much time do you spend on social media everyday?
Not too long to be honest – I tend to only post things when I feel like I have done something worth posting! When I go travelling either with work or with family I always like to share my best pictures with my friends on social media, but I am not likely to share a day-to-day post each time I make myself a cup of tea (for example)!
I am really looking forward to visiting Hong Kong and sharing my experiences from there.
Q2) What keeps you up at night?
Dare I say it – BREXIT! It is all that seems to be talked about in the UK at the moment and nobody really knows what is going on. For any international company, the uncertainty is such a headache. That and whether Manchester United will win their next game.
Q3) What is the most frequently used app on your mobile phone?
One of my favourite apps is called ‘Medium’ – it allows you to choose your range of news/blog subjects so that you do not have to search for them. There is a Data Science category that always provides amazing insights into what is going on in the data world and helps me keep in touch with what’s hot and what’s not. Aside from that, the brilliant hotels.com app of course!
Q4) 3 things to do in the morning to make your whole day more productive
- Get up early! I make sure I am in the office around an hour before most people come in, so I can have time to plan out what I want to achieve in the day.
- Block out areas of your diary just for strategic thinking – you cannot come up with innovative ideas if you are always running from one meeting to the next.
- Write things down – by hand! Having a notebook (rather than typing) can actually help remember things and removes the stress of feeling like you have too much to do at once.
Q5) What is your most favourite quote?
I have always liked the Edison quote – “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work” – it seems to appeal to the engineer in me.
Q6) Tell us one thing we didn’t know about you?
I have my own IMDB page (don’t ask).
