RegTech companies are pushing the boundaries of how regulatory compliance is achieved in both traditional financial institutions and blockchain-based companies. Existing financial institutions have been under regulation for a long time, but their compliance departments often use outdated manual processes. New blockchain-based virtual currency exchanges, ICOs and other token-based models have mostly avoided compliance with anti-money laundering or equity offering regulations up to now but are facing increasing push-back from regulatory bodies globally.
